This bone broth is delicious and nutritious! And depending on what you have on hand, you can easily swap in different bones, veggies, or herbs and spices. Anything goes—tailor to your taste!
STEP 1: On a parchment-lined sheet pan, roast @ 450 F for 30 minutes, stir, then roast for another 20 minutes:
- 1 lb organic grass-fed beef bones
- 2 onions, skins removed and cut in half
- 6 stalks organic celery, trimmed and cut in half
- 2 parsnips, trimmed and peeled, and cut in large chunks
- 8 cloves garlic, peeled and smashed
- 15-20 organic baby carrots
STEP 2: Combine in slow cooker and cook on low for 24 hours:
- Roasted bones and veggies (above)
- 10 sprigs organic fresh thyme
- 10 organic whole peppercorns
- ½ teaspoon salt (or more, to taste)
- 2 tablespoons organic apple cider vinegar
- 2 bay leaves
- Enough water to cover all ingredients by 1 inch
STEP 3: Strain, allow to cool and store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week (or six months in the freezer).
STEP 4: Enjoy as the base to your favorite homemade soup, use in place of water in almost any recipe or sip a warm cup of broth on a cold winter day.
